Needs From: Miracle Hill Ministries

Summary:  Volunteers will work with staff to break down the fry station after the event.

Specific tasks

·       Empty oil into collection vats

·       Help carry fryers and equipment to clean up area

·       Clean and put equipment in storage area

·       Breaking down and store tents, tables, and wagons

·       Clean up the fry area

·       Clean up the utility carts, etc.

Qualifications & Skills:  Must be able to stand, bend, squat, scrub, etc. for 4 hours and lift up to 40 pounds.

 Please wear clothes you do not mind getting wet and/or dirty.

Summary:  Volunteers will take trays of carved turkey to the refrigerator

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Receive trays from turkey carvers Take trays of turkey meat to the refrigerator Restock cart with empty trays

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be able to stand for several hours Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds

*The last shift will help with clean up as well.

Summary:  Volunteers will assist in setting up the event sight. Volunteers will also work outside to prepare raw turkeys to be fried or smoked.

Specific Tasks:

Set up: tables, tents, lights, and signs Turkey Prep: unwrap turkeys, remove packaging & giblets and rinse turkey.

Qualifications & Skills:  Must be able to stand for several hours and lift up to 15-20 pounds.

Summary:  Volunteers will separate the legs and wings from the bird. 

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Break legs and wings off of each bird to separate dark and light meat Place meat on sheet trays Hand off dark meat to separation station volunteers and light meat to carving station volunteers

Must be able to stand for several hours Must be able to lift 15-20 lbs

Summary:  Volunteers will carve turkeys, place meat on sheet trays, and hand off to tray station volunteers. 

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Carve white meat off turkeys Pull dark meat off leg and wing Place meat on sheet trays Hand off trays to tray station volunteers

Must be able to stand for several hours Have knowledge or experience with carving turkeys

Summary:  Volunteers will work with staff to clean used fry pots.

Specific tasks:

**Clean and scrub fry pots** this will take a lot of man/woman power (time + effort) Wash dishes in the kitchen

Qualifications & Skills:  Must be able to stand, bend, squat, scrub, etc. for 2 hours and lift up to 15-20 pounds.

Summary:  Volunteers will be stationed at the cooling table in order to get turkeys to a safe temperature to carve

Specific tasks:

Stand at the cooling table and place hot turkeys on cooling rack Monitor table as the turkeys cool to a safe temperature and grease has dripped out of the cavity Transport turkeys inside to the carving station

Qualifications & Skills: 

Able to work in a fast paced environment when necessary Able to communicate clearly and problem solve Able to stand for several hours Able to lift 15-20 pounds

Summary:  Volunteers will work in the kitchen to maintain cleanliness and wash any equipment used throughout the event.

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen Wash pots, pans, and sheet trays Dry dishes

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be able to stand for 2-3 hours Lift up to 20 pounds

Summary:  Volunteers will separate dark meat from white meat

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Pull dark meat off leg and wing Place meat on sheet trays Hand off trays to tray station volunteers

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be able to stand for several hours Have knowledge or experience with carving turkeys

Specific tasks: Work with team leader to:

Maintain cleanliness of the dining room area Sweep and mop floors Wipe down tables Empty trash receptacles Restock volunteer supplies (gloves, aprons, shoe covering)

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be able to stand for 2-3 hours Lift up to 100 pounds

Summary:  Volunteers will be stationed at the Registration Table to check in volunteers to their task.

Specific tasks:

Sit at the registration table to greet and welcome volunteers Answer general event questions Direct volunteers to their volunteer task Hand out volunteer t-shirts to volunteers that are pre-registered
