Summary: Serve as a Mentor to a program participant. Miracle Hill holds highly the position of Mentors. Mentors provide accountability, build trust and friendship, and provide support to program guests & graduates. Mentors have the ability to influence spiritually and personally. Due to the responsibilities involved in the mentor relationship, we require background checks to ensure the safety of those in the care of Miracle Hill. Thank you for your interest in serving in this vital role. 

Specific Tasks:

Provide friendship and spiritual guidance to a program participant. Communicate and visit with your mentee on a regular basis. Commit to a minimum of 6 months. Commit to weekly meetings (for at least the first 6 weeks). Attend Mentee Graduation. Be available for contact with Mentee as needed; respond ASAP to contact.

Qualifications & Skills:

Must know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and exhibit a consistent, Christ-like testimony to those your life would impact. Must be a person who fulfills commitments.    Must complete the Miracle Hill Mentor training. Must complete and sign the Mentor agreement. Must complete & pass required checks including: Motor Vehicle Record check, Sex Offender Registry Check

We are looking for individuals and groups who are interested in sponsoring items to benefit the shelter as a whole. Overcomers is a 7-month residential addiction recovery program for men. Men are offered educational and life skills classes, counseling, and devotional services.

Description

Summary: Serve as a host group for our monthly graduation ceremonies on the third Thursday of each month.

Specific Tasks: 

Provide refreshments for 130 guests. (heavy snack or light meal - must be prepackaged for easy grab and go.) Set up at Morningside Baptist Church (1115 Pelham Rd) starting at 5:45 pm on the third Thursday of the month. Graduation starts at 6:30. Invite your church congregation to attend the service in support of the men graduating. Serve the refreshments at the end of the ceremony. Clean up after the event. Pray a prayer of blessing over the graduates at the end of service.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum of 18 years old (minors must be accompanied by adult) Dependable Personable - enjoys serving people

Summary: We are looking for a dependable person who will be a receptionist during the morning and afternoon hours.

Specific Tasks:

Answer phone calls and direct callers to appropriate staff Provide a smiling face for anyone who enters the building Help volunteers, visitors, and guests fill out the appropriate logs Provide encouragement to the guests in our building

Qualifications & Skills

Must be over 18 Must have good phone etiquette Must be timely and dependable Must be male. Women are encouraged to volunteer at our the Shepard's Gate or the Renewal Center

Summary: Worship Leaders from local churches are invited to come lead our men in a night of worship on Friday nights from 6:45-7:30PM.

**ACOUSTIC SETS ONLY**

Specific Tasks:

Prepare a 30 minute set list. (3-4 songs) Arrive 10 minutes prior to start time in order to start promptly at the appointed time. Open and close with prayer.

Qualifications & Skills:

Must know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and exhibit a consistent, Christ-like testimony to those your life would impact.  Must must be a spiritual leader connected to a local church and pre-approved by the facility Director. Must agree to present scripturally accurate lyrics, in accordance with the Miracle Hill Doctrinal Statement.

Summary: We need to update our library with more books. Please bring any new/used spiritual books to the Overcomers' Center.

Drop off: Ideal times to drop off are Monday through Friday during office hours. If this does not fit your schedule, please leave the books at the front desk.

Summary: We need men who will come once a week to hold Bible studies with our men.

Specific Tasks: 

Lead a evening small group through a Bible study on a weekly basis Use the material we provide or submit your material for approval from staff. Maintain a non-denomination, non-sectarian approach Maintain contact with staff about the formation of our men

Qualifications & Skills:

Must be 18 years old Must be on time Must be willing to commit to at least a 6-week period on a weekly basis.

Summary: Our men spend a great deal of time in class. Occasionally, we need someone to help substitute teach when the staff is not available. This opportunity will help provide class instruction to residents of the Overcomers' Center. 

Specific Tasks:

Prepare class materials in advance. Class materials will be provided by the facility. Arrive 10 minutes prior to class. Start and end on time. Open with prayer. Instruct the class. Close in prayer.

Qualifications & Skills:

Must know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and exhibit a consistent, Christ-like testimony to those your life would impact.  Speakers must be pre-approved by the Facility Director Speakers must agree to and present scriptural accurate material, in accordance with the Miracle Hill Doctrinal Statement. 

 

Summary: 

Volunteers will work alongside our kitchen team to help prepare and serve dinner for our residents. 

Specific Tasks

Work side-by-side with some of our guests to prepare a meal. Organize food storage. Serve guests as they come through the line. Smile and greet the guests in a courteous manner. Assist with cleanup after serving Please wear comfortable & conservative clothing that you aren’t concerned about getting dirty. Please be sure that children remain in the dining room & don’t wander into other areas of the building. Please wash your hands, wear disposable gloves & hairnets (available in the kitchen) if you are handling food.

Summary: Come to the Overcomers Center and build relationships with our men. 

Specific Tasks

Build relationships by listening and talking with our men Attend chapels (morning and evening) and meals with our guests Come back with regularity to continue to build the relationship

Requirements

Male Only 20 years old or older Must be a strong believer in Christ Must regularly attend a local church

Prepare class materials in advance and/or receive class materials from a counselor. Have class materials pre-approved by the Facility Director. Arrive 10 minutes prior to class. Start and end on time. Open with prayer. Instruct the class. Close in prayer.

Our residents love to chat about lots of things from sports to current events and everything in between and long to be treated like “regular people.”  Having friends fellowship and share a meal is a vital part of their social rehabilitation by helping to remove their insecurities and fear of rejection.
