Lisa Gore: Events Volunteer at Miracle Hill

God oftentimes uses a single decision we make to lead us to the great opportunities He has in store!

Lisa Gore found this to be true in her life, and with how she began her volunteer journey at Miracle Hill Ministries.

Lisa and her husband moved from Atlanta, Georgia to Greenville, South Carolina and were empty-nesters. Lisa found she had more time on her hands due to her children being out of the house. She started looking for ways to use her gifts and talents for God and His Kingdom. In the past, Lisa partnered with various nonprofit organizations and this led her to research nonprofits in the Greenville area. She was particularly interested in organizations with involvement in adoption and foster care.

Lisa found that Miracle Hill is the largest level 1 foster care licensing agency in South Carolina with 211 licensed foster families. She was familiar with Miracle Hill’s thrift stores and wanted to learn more about the ministry. So, Lisa decided to attend the Miracle Hill Ministries’ 2019 annual fundraising banquet with her daughter.

At the banquet, she learned about the depth of Miracle Hill's impact in the community. She realized Miracle Hill had more influence than she originally realized! As Lisa began to grasp what the Lord was doing in and through Miracle Hill, she wanted to become more involved.

  • First, she signed up to volunteer with the 2019 Kids Ninja Challenge, where she helped hand out race bibs and fundraising prizes.

  • Next, she plugged into the 2019 Turkey Fry. Lisa worked closely with Miracle Hill’s Development Department by receiving donations and communicating with those wanting to donate food and other items for the event.

  • Finally, Lisa volunteered by joining the 2020 Banquet Planning Committee. Lisa and the rest of the committee planned the entire event and made sure everything was ready to go! We ended up hosting the 2020 banquet online this year due to concerns with spreading the coronavirus. However, there was so much effort put in on the front end from an amazing banquet team!

Lisa says all of the Miracle Hill staff she has come into contact with exhibit compassion and kindness. She loves serving alongside them because of the unity and single vision they demonstrate as they strive to love and serve other people in their community.

Lisa’s volunteer journey began with her desire to use her gifts for God. Lisa made the decision to find out more about Miracle Hill, the Lord used this desire to guide Lisa to participate with the ministry in many vital ways.

We’re so thankful Lisa is willing to partner with us as we strive to help the homeless and hurting individuals within our community!!!
