If you had asked me at the beginning of the year 2020 what would be happening in April at Miracle Hill, I’m sure I would have glanced at my calendar and responded by telling you what was listed there. God had different plans. In mid-March Miracle Hill made the decision to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
While some Miracle Hill employees continued working on the front lines: from thrift employees, to kitchen staff and shelter counselors, there were others who worked from home also. We sadly had to stop volunteers from coming into our facilities, both for their health and the health of our shelter guests. Throughout this virus, it is clear: there are a lot of folks going through difficult times. There are many who are without jobs in South Carolina. Many folks are directly affected by the Coronavirus whether a friend, family member, or co-worker was infected or is working on the front lines; we recognized there are tremendous sacrifices being made and burdens to carry. For some, following the stay at home cautions from CDC and Governor has brought about difficulties for families and with relationships.
As a ministry we wanted to take the opportunity to respond to uncertainty by starting a Prayer Line. This line allows a dedicated staff member or volunteer to pray with anyone with a need directly over the phone. In the book of Matthew, we read, “For man does not live on bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” There are times where the need in our lives seems physical, and many times it is! Jesus promises to care for our physical needs (Matt. 6:28) as well as the spiritual side of things as well. We want to offer a Word of prayer for those who feel deficient spiritually. Psalm 42 verse 2 says, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”
If you would allow us to pray with you, we would love the opportunity. Please call us on the prayer line at 864-251-6414 Monday-Friday from 10am until 6pm. If you call after hours you may leave a message and we can call you back the next day.
Thank you to all the prayer volunteers who have stepped up to meet the spiritual needs of those in our community through the prayer line! We are blessed by their compassion toward others; and at a time that is so fragile, to look beyond themselves and unto others. We look forward to serving you by way of prayer this season. Call and connect with us! 864-251-6414
