From God to You – Prayer Team
Paula Bowman
Galatians 6:2, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
“We never know what situation people are in so just allowing From God to You to be able to provide for that also provides spiritual care because they might not otherwise come across it. If someone is there to pray for them, that means a lot.”
Meet Paula Bowman who has been volunteering with Miracle Hill Ministries for about 13 months. Paula volunteers on the Administrative Gratitude Team, Renewal Center Front Desk, Renewal Center Transportation and Food Warehouse From God to You Prayer Team.
Paula first heard about Miracle Hill through a Bible study group she is a part of called GROW, an acronym for God Restoring Our Women. GROW has an outreach ministry, and they decided to do an outreach at Miracle Hill. At the time they did the outreach, Paula couldn’t participate. But the next year, GROW toured Shepherd’s Gate with her pastor. As Paula was touring Shepherd’s Gate, she remembered a couple of years back seeing a commercial that Ms. Venus Dixon did for Renewal Center and recalling that that was something she wanted to do. Paula stated, “During the past two years, God has been preparing me and made a way for me so that after retirement I could volunteer for Miracle Hill Ministries.”
Miracle Hill From God to You is a community food pantry and warehouse. Paula volunteers on the Prayer Team at From God to You. When asked what that volunteer opportunity looks like, Paula stated, “When people come in to get a food box, I just ask them is there any prayer requests they have that I can pray for with them. At times, they will mention specific prayers and at times just prayer in general. I just let the Holy Spirit lead me as we are praying for them, and it’s just really been rewarding.”
Paula has received positive and rewarding feedback from individuals she has prayed with. “One man asked me to pray about provision. As I was praying, I mentioned Jehovah Jirah. He mentioned that very few people understand God is our provider, that He is Jehovah Jirah. That let me know this is what that individual needed to be reminded of that day.”
"What I love most about volunteering for Miracle Hill is being able to give back, being able to take time to give back to people that really need someone, letting someone know God cares for them, that Jesus loves and we are here. And we are being used as his hands and feet.”
“I hope others will be able to see the need is there. And if you have the time, just use that time wisely by volunteering because the need is there to help someone.”
Thank you, Paula, for being the hands and feet of Jesus.
